Staci McDonald
Treasurer
Staci grew up in Mt. Pleasant, MI and holds a bachelors degree in Education from Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!), a Masters Degree in Education from Central Michigan University, and has pursued additional post-graduate credits through Marygrove College
Staci has spent the past 23 years as an elementary and middle school teacher, and currently teaches sixth and eighth grade ELA. Throughout her career, Staci has sought ways to grow her pedagogical practice, increase student engagement, and advocate for public education. In addition to the work she has done in her classroom with her students, she has worked on revising district curricula for several core content areas. Staci was among the first educators in the district to receive training to use Professional Learning Communities to increase student achievement and Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures for engagement.
Staci has been awarded several grants to supplement her students’ learning experiences through innovative classroom technology and providing unique field trips. As public relations liaison for her school, Staci regularly had articles published in local newspapers to highlight students, colleagues, and points of pride at her building. Her work as a public education proponent continues outside the classroom, as member of her Education Association, serving on several contractual committees throughout her career. When she is not teaching, Staci and her husband (Mark) enjoy spending time with two children, Dominic and Angelina. They love to ski, travel, and play with their dog, Murphy.
